Double-Sided Printing for HP-Style Inkjet Printers

I’ve been frustrated by the lack of helpful information out there on how to print double-sidedly on an HP Inkjet printer; or, for that matter, any printer that pulls in paper and puts it out above the input tray. I’ve developed a failsafe method for double-sided printing on these kinds of printers, and I’ve made a little reference sheet on how to do it.

Take a Look

It’s a half-letter PDF you can keep handy. I specifically designed it for use with a Mac, but I’m sure you can adapt the instructions for Linux or (*gag*) Windows.

Vecktowrs

Did you know that, as of this date, according to Google, the word “vecktowr” appears exactly zero times on the internet?  Never on the internet! Vecktowr is a very important word to me (I invented it), and I think it should be on the internet at least once.

Google results for Vecktowr: Your search - vecktowr - did not match any documents.

Update!

This blog is now the only Google result for vecktowr! as of 29 Sep 2009.

I go into a lot of unnecessary explanation; if you’d rather skip the boring details, this link will take you right to the heart of the instructions.  Finally, even if you don’t have an Actiontec or an AirPort, you can probably extract and interpolate what you need from these instructions.

How can you be so hard to read?

Hard to write,
hard to think,
creativity quashed.

But it couldn’t do anything.
remote apple events don’t work.

Why are you so difficult?

Restart, everything’s OK.

Insert Ubuntu disc.  Shut down, hold C, restart.

Live CD.  Boot, boot, boot.

Installer.  US, S.L.C., Dvorak, Use largest free space, …

Yes.

Partitioning.  Partition, partition, partition.

Install, install, install.  Install.

Remove CD, reboot.  There we are.

Success! … wait a minute, where’s my AirPort card?
